DinkReel turns your pickleball games into highlight clips and reels — on your iPhone, with zero upload and zero wait. Film a game, tap MARK on the great points, and when you stop, DinkReel has already found, trimmed, and ranked the rallies and can cut a shareable reel before you leave the court.
Quick start
- Film — prop your phone on a tripod, open DinkReel, and tap Record.
- MARK — tap the big MARK button on every great point (or click a Bluetooth remote). You can also just film and mark nothing.
- Stop — analysis starts right away (seconds, not minutes).
- Cut Room — every point is scored and trimmed to the real action, with points you never marked suggested for you. Keep, drop, or fine-tune each one.
- Reel — export a ~1-minute Social reel, a full reel, or single clips. Clips save to your Photos.
New to the app? On first launch, tap "Try a demo game" to see the whole flow on a real, pre-made game — no filming needed.
FAQ
No rallies were detected / my court is quiet.
DinkReel finds rallies from the ball-strike sounds, so a quiet or windy court can hide them. Three fixes: (1) in Settings, raise the Sensitivity toward "loose"; (2) use Calibrate → Test on last game to re-run detection and see how many strikes it found; (3) remember you can always MARK points live and trim by hand — marks never depend on detection. The full recording is always kept, so nothing is lost.
How do I mark points with a Bluetooth remote?
DinkReel can turn a Bluetooth camera clicker or your phone's volume buttons into a MARK button, so the phone can stay on the tripod. Turn on the remote toggle in Settings, pair the clicker in iOS Settings → Bluetooth, then press it during play — you'll feel a haptic and see the mark counter tick. It's free — no Pro needed.
Can I try the app before recording a real game?
Yes — tap "Try a demo game" on the home screen. It loads a real game so you can play with the Cut Room and export a reel immediately.
What's free, and what's Pro?
Free forever: record, tap MARK, mark with a Bluetooth remote or your volume buttons, automatic rally detection and trimming, review and reorder your points, preview your highlight reel, and share individual clips (with a small DinkReel watermark). Your first 3 highlight reel exports are free, too. DinkReel Pro unlocks unlimited reel exports (Social and full), no watermark, high-quality export, and voice marking with spoken score calls — a one-time $9.99 purchase, no subscription.
I already bought Pro (or reinstalled). How do I get it back?
Tap Restore Purchase — it's on the paywall screen and in Settings. Restores are handled by Apple through your Apple ID at no charge.
Where are my clips and reels saved?
Exported clips and reels save to your Photos (if you allow photo access). Your original recordings stay inside DinkReel under each game — open a game any time to re-trim or re-export.
Tips for storage and battery.
Video is large. Use the Balanced (720p) recording preset in Settings to save space and battery, keep an eye on the storage footer on the home screen, delete games you've already shared, and start long sessions with a charged phone or a battery pack. DinkReel warns you if space is low before you record.
How should I set up my phone — orientation and tripod?
Mount the phone on a tripod at about net height, a few feet behind the baseline, framing the whole court. Landscape looks best for reels. DinkReel keeps the screen awake while filming and can lock the orientation so a bump won't rotate your video.
Why is there a watermark on my free clips?
Free exports carry a small DinkReel watermark. Pro removes it and exports at high quality.
How do I delete a recording?
On the home screen, swipe left on a game to delete it, or rename it. Deleting the app removes every recording DinkReel stored.
Does my video get uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything — trimming, rally detection, reel building, and optional speech recognition — happens on your iPhone. Nothing leaves your phone. See the Privacy Policy.
